The Mission

As a stay at home mother, whose full time job is creating world peace through child rearing, I've found myself over the course of the last 5 years in near bliss. I count my blessings every day that I live a life where I wake next to two healthy, beaming children and get to fill my days enriching their lives almost as much as they enrich mine. My memory tends to be on the flaky side, more so now that I've got the wee ones I chase around all day. There are exceptions to these lapses, though, and I can remember vividly when my gratitude hit me smack in the face. It was before my son was born. My daughter, Zoe, would have been about a year and a half. We were avid co-sleepers at the time and our bed was on the floor. Zoe slept in the late afternoon and I was lying next to her, watching her breathe in the golden light, while the sheer curtains moved over us with the ocean breeze. I remember explicitly how time stood still for a moment when I realized I was the luckiest person on this entire Earth. That I could spend that moment doing exactly what I was doing.

And now the reason for this blog. As much as a stay at home mother or father takes pride in expressing the joy that they have in spending every waking moment with their children, there are times where things get a little, dare I say it, dull. When we feel like the things we do go unnoticed or we feel uninspired to try something new. It is my hope that starting this blog will not only offer stay at home parents ideas of something fun to try with their children, but also inspire and motivate myself to keep doing what I do best. Loving my children.
